Hey everybody! I am participating in a book meme called the Sunday Post which is being hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer! The goal of this meme is to share news you have on various books and things you’ve read or received and also talk about what is coming up for your blog! Book hauls can include library books, yard sale finds, arcs and bought books and you can share these finds with other book bloggers!
Hey everyone! Man! I can't believe all the drama going on last week! Everyone heard about what happened with "Roseanne?" Personally, I was never a fan of the show itself and I never even sat down and watch the revival since I was never into the show in the first place. So, when news broke out about what happened behind the scenes with that show, while I was disgusted by what happened, I personally didn't care about the fate of the revival since I wasn't even watching it in the first place (although I do feel bad for the other actors and crew who are forced out of work because of this). It seems like everywhere you look, there's always some kind of drama going on in the news and social media and I'm starting to get sick and tired of this. It always makes my days go bad, even though all I have to do is avoid the news and social media to not go through this (BUT IT'S SO ADDICTING)!!! I just wish that everyone in the world just tries to get along with each other and stop making things difficult for everyone who didn't do them any harm. Does anyone else feel this way about the news and social media in general too?

I try to avoid all of that drama. I do feel sorry for the rest of the cast though:)

Same here.
DeleteUgh! Yes. The news. I swear its like why does there have to be drama everywhere?!?! I swear its like every time I open Twitter or Facebook there's something on my timelines sticking out like a sore thumb that's full of drama. Honestly, it's why I hide myself away with blog stuff. I'd rather be reading and talking to the friendly book bloggers than dealing with the constant drama everywhere else.
ReplyDeleteSame here! Blogging on this site gives me a peace of mind! :D
DeleteDrama's a good word for it! And with social media- it's like we hear and see EVERYTHING now!
ReplyDeleteExactly!
DeleteI avoid drama at all costs. I feel it just brings me down and who needs that. I have so much going on - I don't need someone else drama. Have a wonderful week. I haven't been doing CWW and I don't know why. I have to get back into it again.

I'm trying to avoid the news myself these days. All I hear is drama and more drama and I just don't need that in my life. Hope you have a wonderful week too!
DeleteI hate the drama as well. I'm not HUGE on social media but I'm on it enough. I did watch the revival but do think that it was probably just best to cancel it after that. I do wish they'd pick it up without her because I don't think the rest of the cast and crew should suffer. Plus, wouldn't that be a slap in her face - yes, the show CAN go on without you. Is that mean? It sounds mean. Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThanks! You too!
DeleteI did love the original and revival of Roseanne, but that only drama last week was crazy. Such a shame that it turned out this way because of one person's stupidity. Every day there was more news about it (well, not really news - they were just trying to keep rehashing it). Sad really.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
Exactly. It's sad that they want to repost the same news over and over again when people don't even want to hear about it anymore. Hope you have a great week too!
DeleteIt is sad how people can't just behave and be nice to each other. It'd make things so much better! I avoid news and social media most of the time too. It's definitely addictive but it isn't good for me at all. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks! You too!
DeleteI never watched the original Rosanne, so I didn’t care about the revival. I did see all the stuff on Twitter, though. I don’t understand why people can’t be nice on social media. It’s not hard! Just don’t be a jerk!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Exactly! If people don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all!
DeleteThere is too much crazy stuff in the world these days. Why can't people be nice. Kindness is underrated. I just like to escape into books and enjoy them. Anne - Books of My Heart
ReplyDeleteExactly!
DeleteI feel bad for everyone who lost their job because of Roseanne. I'm hoping they will move forward with a Sarah Gilbert spinoff.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too.
DeleteSkimming the headlines gives me the basics without drowning me in negativity, despair, and/or anger. I tend to be pretty empathetic, and that can be draining when there is little or nothing I can do to help or fix things. Yet I do want to be informed so that when there's something I can do, whether it's donate to aid organizations or express my views to my congressman, I know enough to do so. Reading headlines lets me stay informed. I also try to use news sources that have a good reputation for looking at issues in depth and from both sides (for instance, NPR), or are able to keep a broader perspective from U.S. events because they aren't based in the U.S. (for instance, the BBC.) And I try to pick sources that aren't heavily biased toward either conservative or liberal views, but are closer to the middle. It all helps me stay informed, aware, and engaged without getting bogged down in anger or despair.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say that when I find something I need or want to know more about, then I read the whole article. But at least half the time the headline, or the headline and first paragraph, says enough.
DeleteI do the same thing. I like going to sources that tries to look at the situations from both angles instead of just one angle. It helps me get a good grip on the situation at hand and I don't really have to feel so drained with the news.
DeleteI am with you, Ronyell. I wish so much that people would be kinder to each other. I never got into Roseanne, then or now, and I wasn't surprised at all by Roseanne's comments. If anything, I'm surprised something was done this time around. Why not the last time? Or the time before it? She has a history and people knew it. I haven't paid too much attention to it all as a result.
ReplyDeleteI was saddened by the recent suicides. So much tragedy all around us.
Now to read my daughter before bed . . .
The recent suicides? By who?
DeleteI liked watching the show, and I feel sorry for all the others who are involved and have now to suffer because one single woman can´t keep her mouth shut.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
