Stacking the Shelves #104: May 21, 2022

Stacking The Shelves is a book meme created by Reading Reality and it is about sharing books that you are adding to your shelves, whether it's physical or virtual.  This means including books that you bought from the store or online, books you borrowed from friends or from the library, books you've reviewed, gifts and ebooks!

Hey everyone!  Is anyone getting ready for Memorial Weekend?  I'm hoping that me and my family will be having a barbecue and we can just sit and relax for the whole day. I'm really looking forward to Memorial Day coming up soon!

Together We Burn

Eighteen-year-old Zarela Zalvidar is a talented flamenco dancer and daughter of the most famous Dragonador in Hispalia. People come for miles to see her father fight in their arena, which will one day be hers.

But disaster strikes during their five hundredth anniversary show, and in the carnage, Zarela’s father is horribly injured. Facing punishment from the Dragon Guild, Zarela must keep the arena—her ancestral home and inheritance —safe from their greedy hands. She has no choice but to take her father’s place as the next Dragonador. When the infuriatingly handsome dragon hunter, Arturo Díaz de Montserrat, withholds his help, she refuses to take no for an answer.

But even if he agrees, there’s someone out to ruin the Zalvidar family, and Zarela will have to do whatever it takes in order to prevent the Dragon Guild from taking away her birthright.

An ancient city plagued by dragons. A flamenco dancer determined to save her ancestral home. A dragon hunter refusing to teach her his ways. They don't want each other, but they need each other, and without him her world will burn.

Oooh!  A book about dragons and restoring your family honor!  Sounds interesting!

It's All In How You Fall

By: Sarah Henning

Expected Publication Date: May 31st, 2022

Gymnast Caroline Kepler has three state balance beam titles, a new trick even most elites can’t do, and chronic, undeniable back pain. While she might never be an Olympian, she has dreams of leveling up to elite, making Nationals, and competing in college. But when one epic face plant changes all that and Caroline’s back pain goes from chronic to career-ending, her dreams are shattered and her life is flipped upside-down.

Enter Alex Zavala, a three-sport athlete who’s both incredibly cute and incredibly off-limits. He offers to give Caroline a crash course in all the sports she’s missed, and she has an offer for him in return: for every sport Alex teaches her, she’ll play matchmaker for him. Deal done, Caroline “dates” new sports with Alex for the rest of the summer, which is loads more fun than wallowing in despair. Just as Caroline starts to see herself as more than her past athletic successes, she also picks up something she didn’t bargain for: a big, fat crush on Alex. Turns out life was way easier when it was just layout-fulls and beam burns….

Oooh!  A romance novel that takes place in the Olympics!  Definitely can't wait to read this book!

Cover Spotlight #41: May 15th, 2022 - May 22nd, 2022

Hey everyone!  I just created a new book meme called "Cover Spotlight" where you get to showcase your favorite book covers!  It can be a book cover from a book you've read years ago, a book cover from a book you just recently read or a book cover from a book that you've never read before, but you still love the cover!  You can also feature multiple book covers instead of one for this meme! This is a weekly meme, which means that the meme starts every Sunday, but you have until the Sunday after that week to post your favorite covers!

To tweet your posts, use this hashtag here:

#coverspotlight

So, from this point forward, I will be doing specific themes for my cover picks of the week!  You don't have to do this for your cover picks, but for me, this would be something really exciting for me to explore with!  So, this week's theme is:

Shadow Figures

*PSST!!! If you are interested in these books, then click on the covers to go to the links to BUY these books!

The Sunday Post Meme (207)

Hey everybody! I am participating in a book meme called the Sunday Post which is being hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer! The goal of this meme is to share news you have  on various books and things you’ve read or received and also talk about what is coming up for your blog! Book hauls can include library books, yard sale finds, arcs and bought books and you can share these finds with other book bloggers!

Hey everyone!  I hope everyone is doing well this week!  I had another quiet week, which is great for me and I'm still trying to start doing exercising for the rest of the year.  Also, I got some more special edition books for the week, so I'm really happy about that!

One Word: PRETTY!!!

(NETFLIX)

* I actually liked this movie!  Sure, the premise is the same old "video game is actually cursed and kills people," but I really liked the characters and there were some interesting things going on with the plot of this movie.

Do you enjoy collecting special edition books?

*So, here are some good things that happened to me recently!

* Just bought some more special edition books. I love buying special edition books as I get more pretty books on my bookshelf and I always enjoyed seeing the different designs and structure of the books in the special edition books!
