District City is full of monsters. Not the kind that appear particularly vile from the outside. The kind who murder innocent people for no apparent reason. Abandoned houses are haunted by wayward spirits. Leaders of rival Colors clash over the secrets of a brutal past.

After the Plague thinned out the population, Rin Morana figured people would have stopped killing each other. No such luck. Her parents disappeared, and now she is set to take over as the new Lady Morana, head of the Green faction. To be a leader, Rin must contend with her relationship to her rival, Lady Amaya, as well as her own history of violence.

A series of riddles take Amaya Verity out of her isolated room in the Blue compound and into the hidden spaces of the City. Running away from captivity, Amaya takes shelter with Rin at the old Sydis house. There she meets two young men with demons of their own to contend with and abilities to match. Alan who is hiding out from his abusive ex, and Kazuki who might be the only person in the City that remembers the events of the Plague.

As they dig deeper, Amaya and Rin must decide whether to fight monsters or become them.

Hmmm...sounds like a great mystery story!  Definitely checking this out!

A Violet Fire

By: Kelsey Quick

Expected Publication: December 9th, 2019

In the Vampire Stratocracy of Cain, human blood is scarce. For centuries, councils have sought to assuage the blood shortage by enslaving and breeding humans, turning them into profitable supply units for the rich and the abled.

Today, eighteen-year-old Wavorly Sterling is officially a supply unit, bound to serve her blood willingly to her master for the rest of her life. One of only few humans that was not bred in Cain, Wavorly knows freedom better than anyone, and she is determined to escape the clutches of her oppressors, even if by the hands of death.

But surprises lay beyond every certainty, and within every doubt. Where Wavorly's hatred for both vampires and her enslavement once flowed free as blood, it merely trickles as she grows to admire her reserved, yet receptive master and savior, Anton Zein.

Although warmed by comforts never felt before, danger still lurks in the castle, and a prophecy calls from beyond the walls of a lavender gate—concealing the horrific secrets lodged between handsome smirks and cinereous eyes. It will take everything within Wavorly to face her fears and her doubts; to harness the truth of her past despite what that means for her future. The only question is, will she?

Set in a richly detailed world of fantasy, A Violet Fire is a gripping journey filled with passion, betrayal, lies, and the encouragement we all need to take a stand for our freedom—no matter the cost.

Yes!!! I love books about vampires! Definitely picking this up!

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue meets Jane Austen in this witty, winking historical romance with a dash of mystery!

Lady Victoria Aston has everything she could want: an older sister happily wed, the future of her family estate secure, and ample opportunity to while her time away in the fields around her home.

But now Vicky must marry—or find herself and her family destitute. Armed only with the wisdom she has gained from her beloved novels by Jane Austen, she enters society’s treacherous season.

Sadly, Miss Austen has little to say about Vicky’s exact circumstances: whether the roguish Mr. Carmichael is indeed a scoundrel, if her former best friend, Tom Sherborne, is out for her dowry or for her heart, or even how to fend off the attentions of the foppish Mr. Silby, he of the unfortunate fashion sensibility.

Most unfortunately of all, Vicky’s books are silent on the topic of the mysterious accidents cropping up around her…ones that could prevent her from surviving until her wedding day.

Oooh! This sounds like a great romance read! Definitely will be checking this book out!

She holds the key to his heart, and he wants it back

When Arie reveals her Gift, she thinks the worst is over. But she couldn’t be more wrong. The only one who can save her now is a mermaid named Rena.

Rena is the youngest daughter of the Sea King, and she’s dreamed of the surface for years. But her first visit on her 16th birthday isn’t what she expects. She watches a Jinni fall from the sky—and chooses to save him, despite her mother’s warnings that all Jinn are evil.

Once she meets Gideon, she can’t get him out of her mind. And maybe, with a little help from Arie and some magic of her own, she doesn’t have to...

The Jinni Key is a loose “Little Mermaid” retelling. Set in a world that humans share with mermaids, dragons, and the elusive Jinn, this is not the fairytale you remember…

This is a weekly meme, which means that the meme starts every Sunday, but you have until the Sunday after that week to post your favorite covers!

Hey everyone! Man, I suck when it comes to doing Sunday Posts!  But luckily, I managed to watch a lot of awesome movies this past week!  I watched "Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus" and "Klaus" and I loved both movies a lot!  I also started watching "Green Eggs and Ham" and it's pretty good so far!  As for the reading front, I haven't gotten much reading done lately, since I've been so bogged down on other projects.  But hopefully, I'll start reading again!

One Word: EXCITED!!!

(NETFLIX)

* I've been putting this movie off for awhile now and not because I didn't want to watch the film or anything. But because I was so busy watching so many other shows.  Anyway, I really enjoyed watching this movie since it's been a long time since I last saw "Invader Zim" and I must admit that this movie was pretty weird yet hilarious!

(NETFLIX)

* The moment that I heard about this film being released on Netflix, I just had to check this movie out.  And man, was it an AWESOME film!  I just loved the traditional animation style of this film since it's rare to see traditional animation in movies these days.  And I really loved the story as it was heartwarming and hilarious!  This has definitely become a new Christmas favorite for me!

(TRAILER)

* Well, it's here.  They finally released the new trailer for the new "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie and man does Sonic look so much better here!  He actually looks so ADORABLE and I can't wait to see how he is in the movie!  I will admit though that now that the controversial original design is out of the way, I'm a bit concerned about the story of this movie.  I just hope that this movie turns out to be good when it comes out.

(TRAILER)

* Oh my god!  There's a new "Scooby Doo" movie coming out and I'm so excited for this!!  I'm a huge "Scooby Doo" fan and the trailer looks fantastic! I can't wait to see this movie soon!

What movies have you seen lately?
