The Sunday Post Meme (199)

Hey everybody! I am participating in a book meme called the Sunday Post which is being hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer! The goal of this meme is to share news you have  on various books and things you’ve read or received and also talk about what is coming up for your blog! Book hauls can include library books, yard sale finds, arcs and bought books and you can share these finds with other book bloggers!

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been keeping up with the Stacking the Shelves posts. I've been quite busy these last few months, with dealing with my routine sleep doctor check ups.  Thankfully though, my breathing has been improving these last few months ever since I got the CPAC machine. So hopefully, I'll start posting up on my blog regularly again.  Meanwhile, my reading hasn't been in the best of state lately since I rarely read books as much as I used to.  I'm still dealing with the fallout of 2020, so hopefully I'll start getting back to reading soon!

One Word: NOVEMBER!!!

(HBO MAX)

* So, James Wan has made a new horror movie and I must say that I was quite impressed with this movie!  A really creepy film with an intense atmosphere and I especially loved the twists that happened in this film!

(HBO MAX)

* This was one of my most anticipated movies of the year and I must say that I really liked this film!  I loved the visual effects of the desert scenes and the all-star cast was fantastic!  Although, the pacing was a bit slow at times, I still had fun with this movie.

(DVD)

* It was great rewatching this movie again! I remembered loving this movie years ago and after rewatching this movie again, I fell in love with it all over again!  Such a nice and creepy film that you should definitely check out!

How was your October?

*So, here are some good things that happened to me recently!

* I started exercising again!  It's been years since I last exercised regularly and even though it was a bit tough at first, I'm slowly starting to get back into the groove of things regarding exercising!

* My Fiverr account has been really booming lately!  I've been getting lots of orders to do some book promotions on my Instagram account and I'm really happy about this!  Hope I can get more orders soon!

Stacking the Shelves #94: November 13, 2021

Stacking The Shelves is a book meme created by Reading Reality and it is about sharing books that you are adding to your shelves, whether it's physical or virtual.  This means including books that you bought from the store or online, books you borrowed from friends or from the library, books you've reviewed, gifts and ebooks!

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been keeping up with the Stacking the Shelves posts. Hello everyone! "Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, that is hosted by Breaking the Spine and the purpose of this event is that we spotlight upcoming releases of books that we are excited for!  This will also tie into Wishful Ending's Can't Wait Wednesday post!

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selections are:

Curse of the Midnight King

By: Yakira Goldsberry

Expected Publication Date: November 9th, 2021

Buy on:   Bookshop

Can she break the curse in time to save her sisters? She may conquer more than the Midnight King; she may learn to conquer herself.

In this retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses and Cinderella, Faye must sacrifice herself to save her sisters, or risk them being trapped in the Underworld forever, suffering from the curse she helped create. After being separated for three years from her sisters except when she dances with Pathos, the Midnight King, at midnight on a full moon, Faye finally sees a chance to rescue them all. But things are not as easy as they appear. Pathos, the midnight king, is determined to keep her in the Underworld with him.

Oooh! A retelling of "The Twelve Dancing Princesses!" I rarely read a retelling of that story!  Should be an interesting story!

Skin of the Sea

By: Natasha Bowen

Expected Publication Date: November 9th, 2021

Buy on:  Bookshop

An unforgettable fantasy debut inspired by West African mythology, this is Children of Blood and Bone meets The Little Mermaid, in which a mermaid takes on the gods themselves.

A way to survive.
A way to serve.
A way to save.

Simi prayed to the gods, once. Now she serves them as Mami Wata--a mermaid--collecting the souls of those who die at sea and blessing their journeys back home.

But when a living boy is thrown overboard, Simi does the unthinkable--she saves his life, going against an ancient decree. And punishment awaits those who dare to defy it.

To protect the other Mami Wata, Simi must journey to the Supreme Creator to make amends. But something is amiss. There's the boy she rescued, who knows more than he should. And something is shadowing Simi, something that would rather see her fail. . . .

Danger lurks at every turn, and as Simi draws closer, she must brave vengeful gods, treacherous lands, and legendary creatures. Because if she doesn't, then she risks not only the fate of all Mami Wata, but also the world as she knows it.

Wow!  A retelling of "The Little Mermaid?"  Sounds really interesting! I always loved these fairy tale retellings!
