Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Ambrosia of The Purple Booker. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Year Published: 2010
Publisher: Gale Cengage Learning (Large Print)
Genre: Romance, Drama
Reading Level: Adult
A man controlled by his desires...
Infamous for his wild, sensual needs, Lazarus Huntington, Lord Caire, is searching for a savage killer in St. Giles, London's most notorious slum. Widowed Temperance Dews knows St. Giles like the back of her hand— she's spent a lifetime caring for its inhabitants at the foundling home her family established. Now that home is at risk.
A woman haunted by her past...
Caire makes a simple offer—in return for Temperance's help navigating the perilous alleys of St. Giles, he will introduce her to London's high society so that she can find a benefactor for the home. But Temperance may not be the innocent she seems, and what begins as cold calculation soon falls prey to a passion that neither can control—one that may well destroy them both.
A bargain neither could refuse.
"Because Mr. Hopper is respectable and your inquiries obviously aren't," she said in exasperation. "Why ever did you buy that tart?"
He shrugged. "I'm hungry." He bit into the pastry with relish. She watched him lick purple syrup from the corner of his mouth and swallowed in reaction. The tart did look awfully good.
It's been awhile since I've read a historical romance novel and this book is pretty hot and interesting so far! I'm definitely looking forward to what will happen next!
