Hello everyone! Since I love reading Banned Books in general and finding out the reasons why a particular book got banned in the first place, I've created a page where I keep a list of all the banned books I had read so far and I will also state the reasons why that book got banned in the first place. A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein : REASON FOR BEING BANNED : The poem "How Not to Have To Dry the Dishes" was criticized for encouraging kids to be messy and disobedient, while the poem "Little Abigail and the Beautiful Pony" was criticized for describing the death of a girl after her parents refused to buy her a pony. Also for discussing supernatural themes such as demons, devils and ghosts. (5 stars)

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein: REASON FOR BEING BANNED: For promoting drug use, the occult, suicide, death, violence, disrespect for truth and authority and rebellion against parents. Also, for the poem "Dreaded" over the line "someone ate the baby" as they feared it might encourage cannibalism. (5 stars)
13. Sylvester and the Magic Pebble by William Steig: REASON FOR BEING BANNED: For having illustrations that portrayed police characters as pigs. (5 stars)
14. The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier: REASON FOR BEING BANNED: For heavy use of profanity, sexual references and references to bribery, distortion and physical violence. (4 stars)
15. The Adventures of Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey: REASON FOR BEING BANNED: For having offensive language and being unsuited to the age group. (5 stars)
16. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr.: REASON FOR BEING BANNED: Was banned by the State Board of Education in Texas due to a board member accidentally mixing up the book's author Bill Martin Jr. with another author named Bill Martin who wrote "Ethical Marxism: The Categorical Imperative of Liberation." (5 stars)
17. Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss: REASON FOR BEING BANNED: Was banned by the People's Republic of China in 1965 for having a Marxist allegory. (4 stars)
18. The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats: REASON FOR BEING BANNED: On the grounds that a white author (Ezra Jack Keats) has no right to create a black character. (5 stars)
