Fairy Tale and Folktale Fridays #31: Once a Mouse...

Hey there!  Welcome to "Fairy Tale and Folktale Fridays," a new feature on my blog where I discuss about some fairy tales and folktales I have read throughout the years.  This feature was inspired by Chrissi Reads' "Fairy Tale Friday" meme and I was so inspired by those posts that I wanted to do a feature that details my love for fairy tales and folktales!

Once a Mouse...

Type: Folktale

Country of Origin: India

Main Character Hero or Heroine: Hero

Recommend?: Yes!

The story started off with a wise old hermit thinking about big and little, when suddenly, he sees a mouse being chased by a crow and he ends up saving the mouse from the crow.  From then on, the hermit started taking care of the mouse until a cat came into the clearing and was about to eat the mouse until the hermit changed the mouse into an even bigger cat. Afterwards, the mouse kept getting threatened with a bigger animal until the hermit finally transformed the mouse into a tiger and the tiger, who was once a mouse, starts taking advantage of its huge size.

I really enjoyed this story!  I loved the fact that this story discusses about how you should show other people gratitude whenever they help you out and I always loved the fact that this story takes place in India since I love reading stories that take place in India!

1. Is it important to show gratitude to people who helped you out?

Yes, it's definitely important to show people gratitude when they helped you out because not only would it be so rude not to do so, but you would have been hurt or worse if that person didn't help you out.

2. If you wanted to change into an animal, what animal would you like to change into?

I would most definitely like to change into an eagle or a lion!  I want to be an eagle because I would love to learn how to fly and I would like to change into a lion because they are some of the strongest animals in the world!

Waiting on Wednesday #107: Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

Hello everyone! "Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, that is hosted by Breaking the Spine and the purpose of this event is that we spotlight upcoming releases of books that we are excited for!  This will also tie into Wishful Ending's Can't Wait Wednesday post!

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Title:  Muse of Nightmares
Author:  Laini Taylor
Expected Publication Date:  October 2nd, 2018

In the wake of tragedy, neither Lazlo nor Sarai are who they were before. One a god, the other a ghost, they struggle to grasp the new boundaries of their selves as dark-minded Minya holds them hostage, intent on vengeance against Weep.

Lazlo faces an unthinkable choice—save the woman he loves, or everyone else?—while Sarai feels more helpless than ever. But is she? Sometimes, only the direst need can teach us our own depths, and Sarai, the muse of nightmares, has not yet discovered what she's capable of.

As humans and godspawn reel in the aftermath of the citadel's near fall, a new foe shatters their fragile hopes, and the mysteries of the Mesarthim are resurrected: Where did the gods come from, and why? What was done with thousands of children born in the citadel nursery? And most important of all, as forgotten doors are opened and new worlds revealed: Must heroes always slay monsters, or is it possible to save them instead?

Love and hate, revenge and redemption, destruction and salvation all clash in this gorgeous sequel to the New York Times bestseller, Strange the Dreamer.

Awesome! The sequel to Strange the Dreamer!  Even though I haven't read the first book yet, I'm still excited to read this book!

So, what upcoming books are you looking forward to?  Please respond below!

Hey everyone! Me and my sister and my dad went to the Greek Festival in South Carolina this weekend and we had a blast!  I really enjoyed eating the skewers and the gyros and it's nice to just sit around and eat at a festival!  Meanwhile, we also took a nice drive out of town and it was such a relaxing ride.  I always love going out to various places just to drive because you can just wash away your frustrations and any kind of trouble you may have.

One Word: FRUSTRATED!!!

(NETFLIX)

* I really enjoyed this movie! Not only did it involve the step dancing you saw in movies like "Stomp the Yard," but I like how it tackles racial issues in an interesting way!

(NETFLIX)

* I'm really loving this series! I just finished up Season 1 and it was fantastic! This show reminds me so much of "Avatar: the Last Airbender" (probably because the creator of this show was also a writer from "Avatar the Last Airbender."  This series has so much humor and drama and I can't wait for Season 2 to come!
