Waiting on Wednesday #3: Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

Hello everyone! "Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, that is hosted by Breaking the Spine and the purpose of this event is that we spotlight upcoming releases of books that we are excited for!

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Title: Empire of Storms

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Expected Publication Date: September 6th, 2016

The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those don't.

As the kingdoms of Erilea fracture around her, enemies must become allies if Aelin is to keep those she loves from falling to the dark forces poised to claim her world. With war looming on all horizons, the only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.

Aelin's journey from assassin to queen has entranced millions across the globe, and this fifth installment will leave fans breathless. Will Aelin succeed in keeping her world from splintering, or will it all come crashing down?
Even though I've only read the prequel book to the "Throne of Glass" series, I am interested in checking this fifth installment as soon as I read the other books in the "Throne of Glass" series!

So, what upcoming books are you looking forward to?  Please respond below!

Published by: Crimson Tree Publishing

Publication date: June 7th 2016

Genres: Adult, Paranormal Romance
Teens are turning up dead, and it will take a special team to catch a killer.

Derek Doyle has been a member of the Paranormal Investigations Team since the monsters revealed themselves to the world. Considering that he thinks a monster is needed to catch a monster, he’s definitely in the right place. As a lone wolf not used to letting many people in, neither man nor beast was prepared for the effect consultant Dr. Ever Chace has on them.

Growing up human in a world of supernatural creatures, Dr. Ever Chace has always felt a need to be special, to stand out. When asked to consult on a case where teens are being brutalized, she relishes the chance to make a difference and help stop a monster. But working alongside a wolf who she’s so drawn to could be the beginning of something Ever might never have envisioned.

Fate and Destiny have a funny way of creeping up on you when you least expect it. With a murderer on the loose, Ever and Derek will have to put their attraction to one another aside while the hunt continues.
Easier said than done… right?

They left the station and made the short journey to his car. Again, he opened the door for her, and she slid in with an easy smile. He rounded the car and slipped into the driver’s side. Derek started the engine and reversed, edging the car out of the parking spot before he snuck a peek at Ever.
Her eyes were closed, and the faint sound of her breathing was all he heard as Ever fell asleep beside him. He had no idea where she lived, and he was loathe to wake her.

Home, take home, the wolf spoke to him, projecting his thoughts into Derek’s human mind.
With little option left, he drove the car to his house close to the airport and parked. Getting out of the car, he went around, opened the passenger door, and very carefully hoisted Ever up into his arms. She wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his shoulder. His wolf howled its approval as the soft heat of her breath danced on his neck.

He shuddered under the intense feeling of pleasure that rippled through him, instantly feeling guilty because of the horrors the poor teens had been subjected to. But as Ever’s breathing deepened and dusk began to settle on the city, Derek strode into his house, startled by a stunning realization. This woman in his arms called to him on a most primal level and captivated both man and wolf.
Goddamn it—he wanted to keep her.

Blog Tour + Book Blitz: Dating An Alien Pop Star by Kendra L. Saunders

Dating an Alien Pop Star

Kendra L. Saunders

Published by: Crimson Tree Publishing

Publication date: June 7th 2016

Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance
Daisy Kirkwood has only just escaped her small-town life and run away to New York City, the land of last-minute secret gigs at famous musical venues, when she’s kidnapped by aliens. Unfortunately, no one ever writes about how to handle alien abduction in those fancy NYC guidebooks.
Griffin and Dev are supermassively sexy aliens from a politically and environmentally troubled planet who arrive on Earth with very little knowledge about human ways other than what they learned from a wayward E! News signal. Their mission is to pretend to be the most influential people on the planet—English pop stars, of course!—and gain the help of a powerful secret society. Upon arriving, they abduct Daisy Kirkwood, a nerdy young woman who loves music but could seriously use a bit of help in the love-life department. Though Griffin and Daisy initially squabble, neither can deny the intergalactic sparks whenever they’re too close to each other. Together, they must face murderous aliens, cultural misunderstandings, bad backup musicians, and the dark side of fame and the media, all set against a tight deadline…
Part High Fidelity, part Bridget Jones’ Diary, part Doctor Who, Dating an Alien Pop Star is a sexy romantic comedy.

Griffin raises a dark eyebrow. “Are you afraid of me?”

“I didn’t say I’m afraid!”

“But are you?”

“No!”

“Good.” He kicks off his shoes. “This will be a nice period of bonding for us, Wanda.”

“Why are you here?” I demand, sitting on the edge of the bed and crossing my arms over my chest.'

“You say you want to become the most powerful being on the planet with your music and all of that, but why?”

“It’s none of your business.”

“It’s my planet, so it is my business. You’re not planning to brainwash all of us, and then harvest our organs or something, are you? Keep our livers in jars in a spaceship somewhere? Burn the planet and then plant your weird medicinal drugs here?”

Griffin stalks closer to me with every word, until he’s standing directly in front of me, the glowing light in his eyes showing through the lenses. “And if I am, do you think you’re going to stop me?”

A shudder traces through me. I’m not sure if it’s because of his words or because he’s standing so close. “I’ll have to stop you,” I say in a very brave tone. Okay, actually, it’s not brave at all. More like a wheezy whisper. But Bjork or Kim Gordon wouldn’t just bow down to an alien invasion without at least attempting to protect their planet, and neither will I.

Before I can fully process what’s happening, Griffin’s pinned me down, holding my wrists against the bed under his hands. His body, though slight, feels substantial and warm against mine—simultaneously threatening and a bit of a turn on. “You don’t know me very well at all, do you, Wanda?” he whispers, and I want to correct him about my name, but I find it hard to say anything at all. “I would never come all the way to your planet just to enjoy the food and then destroy it. I’m not cruel!”

“I don’t know anything about you, other than your bad taste in clothes,” I say, but his weight pressed against my pelvis has my body pulsing and warm all over. Bad, bad, bad.

“Then look into me, why don’t you? You could see anything you wanted, if you’d just look. I’d let you.”

When I shake my head, he releases me, climbing right over top of me to take his place on the bed. I can feel the mattress shaking a bit, and I gather my wits enough to sit up and glance at him. He’s maneuvered his way out of the rest of his clothes, leaving only the underwear.

Thank God. Especially since my close proximity reveals he’s not doing too bad in that department. Even under a layer of fabric.

Top Ten Tuesday #28: Top 10 Reasons Why I Love Reading

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

So today's Top Ten Tuesday theme is "Top 10 Reasons I Love X" and I have decided to do "Top 10 Reasons Why I Love Reading!"

So, here's my top 10 Reasons Why I Love Reading (in no particular order).

1. The Sweet Escape

Life can be tough at times and sometimes, I just want to escape from the frustrations of the real world.  So, that's why reading a good book can bring you out of the frustrations of your life!

2. A Whole New World

As much as I would love to travel around the world, I can actually see the world for what it is based on the books I've read that explores different countries and cultures!

3. Meeting New Bookish Friends!

What I love so much about book blogging is that I get a chance to meet up with other fellow book bloggers who either have the same taste in books I read or have different opinions about the books I've read and it's great hearing various opinions from other bloggers!

4. Knowledge is Power!

I'm always open to learning new things everyday and reading allows me to learn so much about the world at large and certain subjects I might be interested in!

5. Use your imagination!

I have become very creative over the years due to reading so many books that have creativity and it encouraged me to use my imagination whenever I'm writing fan fictions.

6. Gives me ideas for writing.

Even though being a writer is sort of far down my list of my dream careers, I always get so much inspiration for my fan fictions due to reading books that I really enjoyed and taking cues from the writing styles of the books.

7. Be Yourself!

I always feel like myself whenever I'm reading since most people I know in my life don't read as much as I do and I feel like I'm hiding this great secret from them because of that.  Whenever I read, I feel much happier just exploring the different characters in the books I've read and how they handled their situations.

8.  Just Sit Back and Relax!

My life can get pretty stressful at times, so it's nice to just sit down and read a good book to relieve the stress (along with some coffee and green tea)!

9. Collector's Item

I just love collecting different books and reading them allows me to collect different books from different types of book stores.

10.  FUNTASTIC!

I always found reading to be so fun and that's why I always love reading!

Hello everyone! Well here it is folks!  Summer is finally here and I got a lot of books lined up to read for the Summer!  First though, I have to sign up for the summer reading program at my local library so I could get involved with the program and I haven't been able to go to my library for awhile due to my job getting in the way.  Also, I will be pulling out some books from my TBR jar since I want to try that out and see how that will help out with me trying to lower my TBR list in the long run.
