☀Daily Book Chat #5:☀ Picture Books...Can't Adults Enjoy them Too?

Hello everyone! Welcome to my  ☀Daily Book Chat☀ where I do some SERIOUS discussions that fellow book fans will get a kick out of and relate their thoughts about the subject to other book fans!

Today's discussion question is "Picture Books....Can't Adults Enjoy them Too?

Aaaahhhh....Picture Books.

They are the little wonders of the world that children everywhere will do absolutely anything to get their hands on in order to read them (that possibly includes shouting in your ears, "MOMMY! DADDY! I WANT A BEDTIME STORY!!! I WANT A BEDTIME STORY!!!)

So, if children love picture books, can't adults enjoy them too?

SILLY READER!!! PICTURE BOOKS ARE FOR KIDS!

EEEEHHHH!!! WRONG!!!

Even though it is nice to have books that are geared towards children, I have read enough picture books in my lifetime to know that there are some picture books out there that adults can enjoy.

It could be because of the picture book's subversive humor or it could be because of the social themes that are explored in the picture books that adults can relate to.  Why, I could possibly put up a whole collage of various picture books that adults can enjoy right here on this post (which I will)!

Also, it's cool for both parents and children to pick up a picture book that makes them both laugh and think at the same time and just read that picture book together!  Because the best kind of picture book is the one that can bring a family together to discuss the various themes and bring out the humor in everyone!

  1. I love picture books! I think people tend to think of them as literacy tools and some are, but really picture books are works of art and many times the interactions between the text and the words is often quite sophisticated. I also love wordless picture books. Aaron Becker's Journey and Quest are quite beautiful. -Krysta @ Pages Unbound

  3. I miss those picture book days too. Maybe I should get out a bunch from the library just for me -- there are some amazing new ones I'm sure.
