Waiting on Wednesday #109: Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas

Hello everyone! "Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, that is hosted by Breaking the Spine and the purpose of this event is that we spotlight upcoming releases of books that we are excited for!  This will also tie into Wishful Ending's Can't Wait Wednesday post!

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Title:  Kingdom of Ash
Author:  Sarah J. Maas
Expected Publication Date:  October 23rd, 2018

Years in the making, Sarah J. Maas’s #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series draws to an epic, unforgettable conclusion. Aelin Galathynius’s journey from slave to king’s assassin to the queen of a once-great kingdom reaches its heart-rending finale as war erupts across her world. . .

Aelin has risked everything to save her people―but at a tremendous cost. Locked within an iron coffin by the Queen of the Fae, Aelin must draw upon her fiery will as she endures months of torture. Aware that yielding to Maeve will doom those she loves keeps her from breaking, though her resolve begins to unravel with each passing day…

With Aelin captured, Aedion and Lysandra remain the last line of defense to protect Terrasen from utter destruction. Yet they soon realize that the many allies they’ve gathered to battle Erawan’s hordes might not be enough to save them. Scattered across the continent and racing against time, Chaol, Manon, and Dorian are forced to forge their own paths to meet their fates. Hanging in the balance is any hope of salvation―and a better world.

And across the sea, his companions unwavering beside him, Rowan hunts to find his captured wife and queen―before she is lost to him forever.

As the threads of fate weave together at last, all must fight, if they are to have a chance at a future. Some bonds will grow even deeper, while others will be severed forever in the explosive final chapter of the Throne of Glass series

Fairy Tale and Folktale Fridays #32: The Little Red Hen

Hey there!  Welcome to "Fairy Tale and Folktale Fridays," a new feature on my blog where I discuss about some fairy tales and folktales I have read throughout the years.

The Little Red Hen

Type: Fairy Tale / Fable

Country of Origin: Possibly Russian ?

Main Character Hero or Heroine: Heroine

Recommend?: Yes!

The story starts off with the little red hen finding a grain of wheat and she asks her friends, the dog, the cat and the mouse if they will help her plant the wheat.  The dog, the cat and the mouse all said that they won't help and the little red hen ended up planting the wheat by herself. Afterwards, the little red hen started harvesting the wheat, milling the wheat into flour, and baking the flour into bread, all the while, she was also asking the dog, the cat, and the mouse to help her with these duties and yet, the three animals continue to refuse to help the little red hen.  Finally, the little red hen was able to make a delicious bread out of the wheat and she asks the dog, the cat, and the mouse if they will help her eat the bread.  The dog, the cat and the mouse immediately said yes, but the little red hen told them that they will not eat the bread since they didn't help her make the bread and she ended up eating the bread by herself!

I have always loved this story because I loved the fact that this story helps teach children about the importance of hard work and how you should help out your friends or family members whenever they need help.

1. Should you help out with your family members or friends if they needed help?

Yes, it's definitely important to help out your family members and friends during their time of need, especially if it deals with housework!

2. Do you think that the dog, the cat and the mouse deserved to be punished for not helping out the little red hen?

In a way, yes the deserved to get punished, because it wasn't fair to the little red hen that she had to do all the work by herself when the other animals could have helped her out.

September Monthly Wrap Up (2018)

Off the Blog:

Hey everyone! I can't believe that September is already over!  Not much really happened in September, other than what was going on with Hurricane Florence and that we went to the Greek Festival in South Carolina.  I was so happy that Hurricane Florence didn't really hit us (although the worst we got was some bad weather).  But, I do feel bad for the people who were hit by it. I hope everyone is doing okay.  Meanwhile, even though we didn't really do any of the activities at the Greek Festival, I still loved the food there, especially the sandwiches and I would love to go there again next year (and hopefully, get more involved in the activities they have there)!

On the Blog:

Unfortunately, my reading was a bit off this month as I only got one book in, which is disappointing after I had a fantastic reading month in August.  Hopefully, October will be way better this time around, especially since I got a lot of Halloween themed books stacked up to read!
