Book Blogger Hop #18: March 24th - March 30th

Hello everyone! I'm participating in another book meme called the Book Blogger Hop which is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer!  Basically, you just answer weekly questions and then post up your link on the question's page.

This week's question is :

This week's question is submitted by Maria @ A Night's Dream of Books)!

How do you handle negative comments left on your blog?

I rarely have any negative comments on my blog, but if I do have negative comments, depending on how bad they are, I would delete them from my blog. I know this sounds harsh, but if other book bloggers came onto the blog and they see the negative comments, then it's possible that the negative comment will start a flame war on my blog, which would be hard to control once it gets out of hand.  However, if the negative comment was presented as a constructive criticism of my reviews, then I would reply to that person, as long as the discussion is civil.

  1. I think I would handle it the same way you did. I've never had a negative comment on my blog myself. I did get spam, from people selling stuff. I delete those posts...

  3. I'm all for deleting negative comments! The drama just isn't worth it.

  4. I think people can disagree respectfully--and then it's not so much a negative comment, but rather an opening to a possible discussion. All of us seem to agree on this. :-) I would delete negative comments thought, especially if they are personal attacks or disrespectful in any way.

I hope you have a great week, Ronyell!

  5. Civil is key. I think deleting negative comments is a good way to keep the tone positive and constructive. I've only participated in the blogging community for a few months, but I've definitely enjoyed virtually meeting a bunch of other bloggers.

  6. I totally agree with your approach, Ronyell. Flame wars on a book blog are ridiculous! And I don't think you're being harsh at all by deleting rude and/or aggressive comments. I would do the very same thing, if I ever got such a comment on my blog. This type of comment just creates drama and conflict!

Constructive criticism is okay, but be careful, anyway! Some people insist they're being "constructive", when they're really attacking you. And then, when you protest, they simply say you're "too sensitive".

As long as these criticims are courteous, as well as helpful, then of course you're right to reply to them. But if not, then they get deleted!

Thanks for your thoughts! Also, thanks for visiting, and commenting on my BBH post!! <3 :)

  8. That is the best term I have heard for those types of wars (especially on Twitter) "flame wars". I agree that it is best to delete those. :)
